Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte said that the training deepened the understanding of the participants on the role of marine mammals and marine turtles in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems.
The association added that the activity highlighted the urgent need to build capacity in responding to marine mammal strandings and enhance community-based conservation efforts.
For the Sagip Pawikan volunteer patrollers, the training was especially valuable as it opened up new skills and strengthened their ability to safeguard marine life through effective rescue and response practices.
They said that with the knowledge they gained, they are now better equipped to help ensure the survival of sea turtles during times of crisis.
