Major developments to bolster tourism within the Freeport are set to be implemented through the leadership of Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Administrator and CEO Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman. Developments include FAB Golf Course, Central Business District, and FAB Boardwalk among others.
AFAB Senior Information Officer Hazel Keith D. Elloren said the AFAB is redeveloping the 16-hectare FAB Golf Course, with 14.9 hectares allocated for a redesigned nine-hole golf course, while the remaining 1.7 hectares will be used for a two-story clubhouse and other amenities.
AFAB will also develop a CBD that will serve as the Freeport’s emerging hub for commerce, services, and community activity.
The CBD project will occupy 23,000 square meters of land and feature a mix of modern facilities, including a shopping mall and hotel, office buildings, multi-storey parking, commercial complexes, and a commercial condominium.
Elloren also announced that the FAB Boardwalk is also in the pipeline with the shoreline known as Mattel Beach also being redeveloped.
The FAB Boardwalk will cover 12,000 square meters and will serve as a commercial and recreational strip along the Freeport’s waterfront.
Plans for the FAB Boardwalk include a coastal promenade lined with shops and restaurants, open areas for small gatherings, and improved walkways that link the waterfront to nearby roads and facilities.
