Pusong Pinoy Partylist Representative Jett Nisay lauded on Wednesday the anti-smoking and anti-vaping campaign launched by the City Government of Balanga and the Provincial Government of Bataan.

Cong. Nisay, one of the resource speakers in the Tobacco Free Generation Leadership Summit 2025 held October 22 at the Bataan Peoples Center said all the efforts made by the City Government of Balanga paid off.

The Tobacco Free Generation campaign was preceded by a city ordinance banning smoking and selling of cigarettes more than 10 years ago. It even came to a point when tobacco producers filed a case against the City Government for passing anti-smoking ordinance including the sale of cigarettes in “sari-sari” stores.

Nisay said the series of ordinances passed by the City Government and consequently adopted by the Provincial Government helped with great measures in the awareness of local folks on the bad effects of tobacco on health.

“The Tobacco Free Generation campaign helped boost the local government’s health program,” the solon pointed out, adding that the youth now learn to ditch smoking.
