Creativity is alive and kicking in the province of Bataan, according to Administrator/CEO of Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Hussein P. Pangandaman during the premier showing of 10 short films for the first ever FAB Film Festival.

In his brief message, Pangandaman cited the directors, performers and the people behind the film festival for doing their best in portraying the historic province of Bataan as a tourism hub that attracts not only investors but also tourists from all over the world.

Marvin Reid Panes, director of the film “As If We Never Left”, said all the ” “actors” and “actresses” who joined the film festival are from Bataan and the location sites are within the province as well.”

Marvin, an economics graduate says that Bataan could become a prime tourist destination what with its beauty and rich heritage sites and war memorials. He added that one of the aims of the film festival is not just to promote Bataan as a site for investors but to portray the place as a model community for everyone.

The short films, about 30 minutes each tackle the environment and climate change being experienced by fisherfolk in “Daluyong”, the travails of women while applying for a job in the city in “Resume”, the Filipino culture of believing in “aswang” or monster that ruins the family relationship in “Kubli” while in other remote village local folks still take to their heart the power of ghost in “Kuwentong Multo.”
