Bataan 2nd and 3rd District Representatives, Cong. Abet Garcia and Cong. Gila Garcia respectively have reaffirmed their support for the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) Act, House Bill 2706, during the recent congressional hearing of the Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization. The proposed law seeks to create a government authority to coordinate socio-economic development, public services, and infrastructure planning across Bataan’s municipalities and Balanga City.
As the next step, a Technical Working Group (TWG) will be formed to review the bill in detail and ensure it demonstrates how the MBDA can enhance traffic and transport management, create more jobs, provide faster government services, and improve disaster preparedness for communities. Lawmakers emphasized that the MBDA is designed to complement the work of local government units while providing a unified, organized framework for growth in the province.
If enacted, the MBDA is expected to bring tangible benefits to residents, including: improved traffic flow and public transportation, expanded business and employment opportunities, cleaner and better-managed public spaces, and strengthened community readiness against floods and other natural disasters.
The initiative reflects a major step toward a progressive, sustainable, and resilient Bataan, ensuring a safer and more prosperous future for all families in the province.
