The first lady Mayor of Balanga City recently made a surprise appearance at the city market to meet and greet stall holders and vendors who warmly welcomed her like a long-lost friend.
Mayor Raquel Garcia‘s first visit to Balanga City Public Market was unexpected by market goers, too, who said it was the first time that a city mayor mingled with the vendors without any hesitation, unmindful of the “fishy” environment.
In her social media post, the lady mayor describes the public market as “not only a market for prime commodities but also the heart of community where people exchange notes, share stories of triumph and disappointments the people’s sheer perseverance and collective effort to support each other.”
She further said: “Nakakatuwa po na makumusta at makilala sila nang mas personal, at makita ang iba’t-ibang quality at fresh local products na buong pagmamalaki nilang ibenebenta.”
City Treasurer Joselito Evangelista claimed one of major sources of income of the city government is the public market which has earned citation as among the cleanest public markets.
