AboitizPower is taking a bigger role in protecting Bataan’s coastal ecosystems by expanding its adopted mangrove area in Orani from 10 to 20 hectares under the Tubo-Tubo Island Mangrove Conservation Project.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Provincial Government of Bataan, will see the company not only fund but also maintain the expanded mangrove plantation.
The formal expansion was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on August 7, 2025, at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City.
The event was led by AboitizPower GMEC and GNPD President & CEO Ronaldo Ramos, DENR Secretary Raphael Lotilla, Bataan 3rd District Rep. Gila Garcia (representing Gov. Joet Garcia), Orani Mayor Jon Arizapa, and Tubo-Tubo Fisherfolks Association Chairperson Rosana Laxa.
This effort is part of Project TRANSFORM Baka1Bataan program, which fosters collaboration among public, private, and community partners for science-driven environmental action.
Since 2023, AboitizPower has been a key force behind mangrove adoption in Orani with its total commitment now covering 20 hectares boosting climate resilience and safeguarding marine life.
