
Two young gymnasts from Balanga City brought pride and honor to their schools and community after winning multiple medals at the 8th Asia Pacific Cup International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament held in Hong Kong from August 7 to 11, 2025.
Levina Shay Mallari, a Grade 7 student of the City of Balanga National High School–Junior High School (COBNHS–JHS), bagged two gold medals in the Ball Competition and Individual All-Around, and a silver medal in the Hoop Competition. Her performance earned praise from the Balanga City Schools Division Office, which lauded her not only for her athletic excellence but also for embodying the values of a “School of Character.”
Another standout was Freya Lia H. Oyanib of Tomas del Rosario College, who secured a gold medal in the Team Category B, two bronze medals in Ball and Freehand events, and a fifth-place finish in the Individual Set A (ISA). Both athletes were commended for showcasing discipline, skill, and determination, putting Balanga City on the map in the international gymnastics arena.
