Governor Joet Garcia on Friday led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new public park inside the Capitol Compound, a project aimed at enhancing community spaces and promoting a greener, healthier lifestyle for residents. The initiative is part of the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) Green, Green, Green program, which supports the development of modern, sustainable, and people-friendly parks across the country.
The upcoming public park will rise in the Oval area of the Capitol Compound, long known as a venue for various public gatherings such as trade fairs, sports events, and community celebrations. The redevelopment will include landscaped gardens, walkways, open-air activity zones, and improved lighting and safety features. According to provincial officials, the new park will serve as a hub for family recreation, fitness activities, and cultural events.
DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman assured that the project will be completed within the target timeline through national funding support. She emphasized that the park will not only beautify the province’s capital grounds but also create a healthier environment by providing a safe public space for leisure and wellness.
The ceremony was attended by key national and local officials, including Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Senior Undersecretary Henry L. Yap, Local Government and Regional Coordination Bureau Director Atty. Ryan S. Lita, Bataan Third District Rep. Gila Garcia, Pusong Pinoy Rep. Jett Nisay, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, municipal mayors, and provincial government employees. Their presence highlighted the multi-sectoral support for the initiative.
Governor Garcia underscored that the new park is part of his administration’s broader vision of building sustainable and inclusive public spaces in Bataan. “This project reflects our commitment to providing safe, green, and accessible areas where families and communities can gather and grow together,” he said, adding that it will become a lasting landmark of progress for Bataeños.
