Bataenos warmly welcome Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno

Thousands of devotees gathered in prayer and solemn reverence as the revered image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno made a special visit to the province of Bataan from March 7 to March 11, bringing with it a powerful expression of faith among Bataeños.

The miraculous image, widely venerated by millions of devotees from the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila, was warmly welcomed upon its arrival in Bataan. Leading the faithful in a Eucharistic celebration at the Balanga Cathedral was Bishop Rufino “Jun” Coronel Sescon Jr., Bishop of the Diocese of Balanga, together with Fr. Noel Nuguid. The visit of the Black Nazarene became a deeply spiritual moment for the province, drawing believers from different sectors who came to offer prayers, thanksgiving, and petitions.

As part of its pilgrimage in the province, the sacred image also visited The Bunker, where Governor Joet Garcia and provincial employees warmly received the revered icon. A Holy Mass was celebrated during the visit, providing government workers and visitors an opportunity to pause from their daily responsibilities and offer their prayers.

The Nazarene’s journey across Bataan also included stops at several institutions, including Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Tomas del Rosario College (TRC), Camp Cirillo Tolentino, PENELCO, and Bataan Heroes College, where students, employees, and devotees gathered in prayer and reflection.

As the pilgrimage concludes on March 11, the visit of the Mahal na Poong Nazareno leaves a lasting message to the people of Bataan: just as Jesus carried His cross for the salvation of humanity, believers are also called to embrace sacrifice, humility, and unwavering faith amid the trials of life. The overwhelming turnout of devotees throughout the visit once again highlights the enduring devotion of Bataeños, whose faith remains steadfast and deeply rooted in their daily lives.
