The proposed Law School of Bataan Peninsula State University is now within reach following a comprehensive meeting between university officials and representatives of the Legal Education Board at the BPSU Balanga Campus. The discussion centered on the requirements and preparations necessary for the opening of the province’s first-ever law program.
Bataan 1st District Representative Tony Roman III said the initiative aims to make legal education more accessible to aspiring lawyers in the province. He noted that many Bataeño students who dream of becoming lawyers often face financial and logistical challenges when studying in Metro Manila and other distant areas.
Rep. Roman emphasized that bringing legal education closer to home would provide greater opportunities for local youth to pursue a law degree while remaining in their communities. He added that the establishment of a law school in Bataan would help nurture future legal professionals who understand the unique needs and concerns of the province.
As a lawyer himself, Cong. Roman described the development as personally meaningful, expressing belief that increasing the number of homegrown lawyers would strengthen justice, public service, and leadership in Bataan. He underscored that empowering more Bataeños through education ultimately contributes to a more responsive and inclusive local governance.
University officials, for their part, committed to working closely with the Legal Education Board to ensure compliance with academic standards and regulatory requirements. Once approved, the BPSU Law School is expected to open new pathways for aspiring legal practitioners and mark a significant milestone in the advancement of higher education in the province.
