Cong. Abet maps out Bataan’s Mega Projects

In a meeting on August 14, 2025 with New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Dr. Catherine Mcintosh and key investors from Makati Business Club at Four ECom Center, Congressman Albert S. Garcia laid out Bataan’s Mega Projects — including the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge — which will connect Central Luzon to Calabarzon, boosting trade, spurring regional growth, and easing congestion in the capital.

Central to this is the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge, a 32.15 kilometer bridge spanning between Mariveles and Naic, Cavite, that will be one of the world’s longest sea crossings and expected to cut travel time from Region 4A to Bataan in just 40 minutes and from Bataan to Manila to only two hours. Cong. Abet underscored that said project will have the “highest economic return among all Build Better More projects” with a projected 34% rate of return.

The aforesaid project is also part of a broader infrastructure push including the proposed Bulacan and Sangley airports, expansion of the Roman Expressway, and enhancements to Subic and Clark airports—aimed to create alternate routes to Metro Manila whilst boosting tourism, manufacturing, and logistics in Bataan.

Furthermore, Cong. Abet also shared another mega project, the Manila Bay Integrated Development Plan, a coastal defense and highway system that will run from Bataan through Pampanga, Bulacan, and Metro Manila. Said project is inspired by the Dutch flood-control engineering designed to prevent large-scale flooding, store water for agriculture, and provide a new access point to Manila.

Situated in the Luzon mega-region that generates almost 60% of the country’s GDP, Bataan is positioning itself as the central hub for tourism, logistics, and commerce.
