Municipal employees led by Mayor German Santos and Philippine Army troopers recently climbed the scenic Mt. Malasimbu in Dinalupihan town to look into the possibility of turning the mountain into a tourist spot.
Santos said Dinalupihan, being the only landlocked town in Bataan largely depends on realty estate and business taxes for its income.
“We also want to showcase the natural beauty of our mountains and build a tourist attraction in this part of Central Luzon,” said the Mayor in his social media page.
The municipal government, he said, plans to put up a pathway to Mt. Malasimbu roughly 400 meters high and a view deck to attract local and foreign tourists.
So far, only the Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor located in Pilar town attracts foreign tourists particularly during the annual commemoration of Bataan Day on April 9 where WWII veterans and relatives converge for solemn ceremonies. The annual event has the Philippine President as main guest. The ambassadors of United States and Japan join the Philippine Chief Executive in a wreath-laying ceremony.
