Former Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton has officially accepted his appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bataan Baseco Joint Venture Inc. (BBJVI) effective August 12, 2025. In a statement, Inton pledged to serve the role with integrity, dedication, and good governance for the benefit of the community.
BBJVI is a 300-hectare property located inside the Freeport Area of Bataan within the Municipality of Mariveles. The corporation aims to be the preferred location for naval shipbuilding, repair, and container port terminal operations while upholding its commitment to environmental stewardship and community welfare. It has been actively partnering with government agencies, schools, and local leaders to deliver sustainable development projects.
In March 2024, BBJVI donated ₱5.7 million to the Bataan Provincial Government for the “Healthy Paaralan Project.” The donation funded educational resources and 100 days of nutritious meals for more than 600 students from Baseco Elementary School and Barangay Sisiman. The company has also partnered with Grand Innovasia Concept Corporation for awareness campaigns on drug prevention and fire safety in the Baseco Country area.
Inton, who served as Hermosa mayor from 2013 to 2022, is known for his community-focused leadership and public service record. As BBJVI’s new head, he is expected to expand its social responsibility programs, strengthen collaborations with stakeholders, and help position the Freeport Area of Bataan as a hub for maritime and port-related industries.
Local officials and community leaders have welcomed Inton’s appointment, expressing confidence that his governance experience will enhance BBJVI’s contributions to Bataan’s progress. With a strong track record in education, public health, and safety programs, the company is expected to continue implementing projects that will benefit residents and promote sustainable growth in the province.
