How would Morong residents react on the construction of Philippine Marine Corps headquarters in the former Philippine Refugee Processing Center, renamed Bataan Technology Park, now known as Morong Discovery Park?
This was among the reasons why Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia recently met with officers of Philippine Marine Corps, representatives of Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BIDA) and Morong town officials led by Mayor Leila G. Linao-Munoz at the Bunker.
The gathering primarily discussed the BCDA report on the construction (phase 1) of Marine headquarters on 100-hectare land within the Morong Discovery Park. The construction is said to BE completed within this year.
The governor brought up the impact of the presence of the headquarters in Morong, the project’s benefit to local residents, national security, and economic development not only in Morong but in the whole province of Bataan.
The governor said in a statement through the social media: “Sa pamamagitan ng koordinasyon, at bukas na komunikasyon sinisiguro natin na magiging kapaki-pakinabang ang proyektong ito hindi lamang sa pambansang depensa kundi pati sa kaunlaran ng mga taga-Morong at buong lalawigan ng Bataan.”
