Groundbreaking rites for Mt. Samat Visitors Complex on Araw ng Kagitingan

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), in partnership with various government agencies, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mt. Samat Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone (FTEZ) Visitors Complex on April 9, 2026, in line with the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan.

The project aims to transform the Mt. Samat National Shrine into a modern and interactive destination while preserving its historical significance. The complex is set to include a Tourist Assistance Center, Visitors Center, and a Multipurpose Administration Building to enhance the overall visitor experience.

The facility was designed to feature exhibits, interactive displays, orientation rooms, souvenir shops, and hotel-type accommodations for tourists. Officials from the Department of National Defense, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and Department of Tourism Region III attended the ceremony as part of efforts to promote sustainable tourism and preserve national heritage.
