Mayor Raquel Garcia paid tribute to Balangueña and Bataeña women who continue to demonstrate excellence in leadership and stand out in various fields.
In her message as part of the celebration of Women’s Month, Garcia cited the vital role of women in strengthening communities and shaping a more progressive society. Garcia added that the tribute honors women leaders in Balanga and Bataan who lead with skill, conviction, and the spirit of the Babaylan. Babaylans were revered female leaders and spiritual guides in pre-colonial Filipino communities.
The mayor noted that women have come a long way, becoming more empowered and more ready to serve their communities. She also expressed gratitude to men who believe in women’s capabilities.
Garcia said that the story of women’s progress does not end here, as women leaders continue to work harder to pave path for young girls.
