Governor Joet Garcia joined the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital (MMWGH) on July 30, 2025, zeroing in on the importance of expanding mental health services not just in Bataan but across the country.
In his speech, Governor Garcia looked back on the legislative efforts that led to the passage of Republic Act 11288, a bill he authored during his time in Congress that institutionalized and expanded the services of MMWGH.
He also highlighted the pressing mental health challenges in the province, particularly the rising incidence of mental illness and suicide. The Governor called for stronger collaboration with MMWGH to address these growing concerns especially in building support systems and strengthening public awareness on mental health issues.
Also present during the celebration were DOH Undersecretary Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao, DOH Central Luzon Center for Health and Development Regional Director Corazon Flores, MMWGH Medical Center Chief Dr. Dennis Dayao Ordoña, Chief Administrative Officer Vincent Isip, Medical Specialist IV Dr. Irene Carmelle Tan, 3rd District Bataan Chief of Staff Rollie Rojas, Bokal Popoy Del Rosario and Mariveles Chief Executive Secretary Randall Concepcion.
