
Government leaders, representatives from partner agencies, faculty experts, and other stakeholders convened for the Capacity Development (CapDev) Training Series for the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) 2025–2030, spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC) headed by Ar. McJefferson Valerio, in partnership with the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) and the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).
One of the highlights of the training series was the presentation of the PDPFP formulation process using the Ridge-to-Reef/Watershed Ecosystem Management approach by Dr. Rex Victor O. Cruz, UPLB Professor Emeritus. Project Leader Dr. Nico R. Almarines of UPLB also shared the achievements of the CapDev series and outlined the roadmap moving forward, while Ar. Valerio discussed the integration of Bataan’s long-term vision with the PDPFP.
In its culminating activity, Bataan Acting Governor Cris Garcia, stressed the Province’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and science-based development planning.
Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta, UPLB Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, and Dr. Ernesto O. Brown, Division Director of SERD-DOST PCAARRD, both expressed their support for Bataan’s initiatives.
Participants from Bataan’s 12 local government units, state universities and colleges from neighboring provinces were awarded in acknowledgment of their contributions to the success of the training program. The activity marked a milestone in crafting the PDPFP 2025–2030, Bataan’s roadmap toward becoming a livable, resilient, and economically vibrant province.
