The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is facing challenges in its illegal drugs campaign. In its report during the recent regular meeting of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Bataan Chapter held at the Samal town hall, PDEA said one of its challenges is that illegal drugs are increasingly sold via online platforms and one-stop shops, thus requiring enhanced digital monitoring.
The agency also disclosed that there is now a need for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to provide adequate space for persons deprive of liberty (PDLs) due to increasing number of people arrested for illegal drugs.
It also said that the local police should improve intelligence gathering network with arrest technicalities armed with legal know-how through a lawyer.
In Pilar, the PDEA recently met with local officials led by Mayor Charlie Pizarro and some members of the municipal council for the crafting of proposed Drug-Free Workplace Ordinance.
