For local fisherfolk, the connection is direct and visible—reflected in shoreline conditions, daily catch, and the long-term health of marine ecosystems.

Fisherfolk such as Marcelindo Silvestre of the Tubo-Tubo Fisherfolks Association say mangrove rehabilitation has brought real benefits, boosting marine life while also protecting coastal villages from strong waves.

About 37 hectares of mangroves in Orani and Samal have been restored through partnerships among communities, local governments, and AboitizPower subsidiaries GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD).

In Morong, the Sagip PaWeCan initiative helps protect sea turtles by safely relocating eggs to hatcheries, improving survival rates and supporting both conservation and eco-tourism.
