Bataan 1st District Rep. Tony Roman has filed House Bill No. 9306, or the Government Last-Mile Emergency Communications Act, to improve the government’s emergency broadcasting system and ensure the public receives reliable information during disasters.

Roman said timely and accurate information can help save lives during typhoons, earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies.

Under the proposed measure, the Presidential Broadcast Service–Bureau of Broadcast Services, including Radyo Pilipinas, will be strengthened as the government’s primary emergency broadcast network.

The bill also seeks to upgrade its facilities to ensure the continuous delivery of verified warnings, evacuation advisories, emergency instructions, and disaster updates even if internet, mobile signal, or electricity is unavailable.

Roman stressed that access to information should not be interrupted during emergencies, saying that even if communication signals fail, the flow of vital information must continue.
