Signing of multi-party MOA for environmental adoption projects

To formalize two major environmental initiatives under the Project TRANSFORM Framework, a Multi-party Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) for environmental adoption projects of AboitizPower through GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd Co. (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin Ltd Co. (GNPD) was signed on March 23, 2026, at Villa Encarnacion in Orani.

 

The agreement was made among the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB), AboitizPower GMEC and GNPD, the Local Government Units of Orani and Morong, Tubo-tubo Fisherfolks Association (TFA), Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Association and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The MOA covers the Orani Mangrove Experimental Forest Project, a seven-year initiative dedicated to the adoption and conservation of 12 hectares of vital mangrove ecosystems in Barangay Kabalutan, Orani and the Sagip Pawikan Conservation and Protection Project (SagipPaWeCan), a five-year program aimed at protecting and preserving marine turtles in Barangay Poblacion, Morong.

 

Present during the signing were Bataan 1st District Representative Cong. Tony Roman, PGB Administrator Alice Pizarro, Orani Mayor Jon Arizapa, Morong Mayor Leila Muñoz, DENR Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Ricky Hernandez, AboitizPower GMEC & GNPD Vice President for Corporate Services Andrea Mellind Madrid, TFA Chairman Rosana Laxa, Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Association President Arnold Mendoza, PG-ENRO, PENRO and CENRO.

 

 

A site visit was conducted at the Orani Mangrove Adoption and Conservation Adopted Site at Sitio Pulo, Brgy. Kabalutan, Orani to monitor the progress of mangrove restoration and engage with local stakeholders.
