The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) successfully distributed solar-powered street lights to the Municipality of Limay on January 26, 2026, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative dubbed “TUGON” – Solar Spark. The activity was held at the Limay Municipal Hall and marked the first batch of the program’s rollout in the town.
The project aims to provide sustainable lighting solutions to local communities, enhancing public safety, order, and overall community welfare. The initiative was implemented in partnership with GN Power and Global Business Power Energy Development Corporation (GMEC), underscoring a collaborative effort to promote renewable energy and community development.
The distribution was led by PENELCO Director Jaime Munar, with Director Cecilia Bacsa also present. Limay Mayor Hon. Richie Jason D. David expressed his gratitude to PENELCO and its partners for their continued support of programs that deliver direct benefits to the community.
Also instrumental in the successful implementation of the activity was the Institutional Services and Development Department (ISDD), which helped ensure the orderly and efficient distribution of the solar street lights. PENELCO said the “TUGON” – Solar Spark program will continue to reach more communities in the coming months as part of its commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.
