Senior Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations 2nd District Rep. Abet Garcia sponsored the proposed 2026 budget of the Department of Health (DOH) during plenary deliberations on Monday.

Rep. Garcia defended the DOH budget alongside Bataan 3rd District Rep. Gila Garcia, who acted as sponsor for Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

The deliberation lasted for more than six hours of thorough discussion, covering the allocation of resources for public health programs, hospitals, and PhilHealth services.

The proposed budget is expected to fund key health initiatives, including expanded medical services, public hospital improvements, and wider PhilHealth coverage.
