SBMA implements fare matrix to curb taxi overcharging

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) will release an official Fare Matrix for taxis operating within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone as part of efforts to ensure fair and transparent fare collection for passengers.

According to SBMA Deputy Administrator for Corporate Communication Armie Llamas, the new policy aims to prevent unauthorized fare charges by some drivers and to protect commuters within the Freeport. She said the Fare Matrix will serve as a guide to promote transparency in fare computation based on approved rates.

The Fare Matrix outlines the minimum fare and corresponding charges depending on distance and type of trip. SBMA has directed all accredited taxi operators to strictly implement the policy and to display a copy of the Fare Matrix inside their vehicles to properly inform the riding public.
