Mandate

Pursuant to Provincial Ordinance No. 26, series of 1995, the PG-ENRO shall be responsible in adopting measures and provision of technical assistance to ensure the delivery of basic services and adequate facilities related to environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.

Mission

Persistently strive, using all cooperative measures and suited technologies, for the most effective and practical approach to reforest, manage waste ecologically, protect and preserve flora & fauna, control & monitor mining and quarrying while enforcing all environmental laws and sustain all other continuing initiatives to keep Bataan’s natural bounty to its optimum state.

Vision

An economically prosperous and independent peninsula with growing economic and industrial activities strengthened by abundant natural resources brought forth by the peoples common concern and action towards a clean and green environment for all the generations to come.

Duties and Functions

PLANS AND PROGRAMS DIVISION

Forest Management Section

  • Implements community-based forestry projects which include integrated social forestry programs and similar projects
  • Manages and controls communal forests with an area not exceeding fifty (50) square kilometers
  • Establishes tree parks, greenbelts and similar development projects

Biodiversity and Integrated Coastal Management Section

  • Implements Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) Program
  • Implements coastal and marine habitat and wildlife conservation projects which include mangrove development, marine turtle (pawikan) conservation and similar projects

PERMITTING AND COMPLIANCE MONITORING DIVISION

Environmental Management Section

  • Enforces pollution control and environmental protection laws, rules and regulations
  • Shares responsibility in the management and improvement/maintenance of water and air quality within their territorial jurisdiction
  • Implements solid waste management projects in support of city and municipal solid waste management systems

Mines and Geosciences Section

  • Enforcement of small-scale mining laws
