In his latest State of the Freeport Address (SOFA), AFAB Chairman Emmanuel Pineda reported that the locators currently at the FAB are expanding which to him is an indication that the ecozone is now on the track of going to the new normal.
Pineda said that Gov. Abet Garcia, closely supporting FAB every step of the way especially during the pandemic, has immensely contributed to the success of FAB and even resulted to the timely action to amend and strengthen the powers and functions including the scope of operation of the FAB. Republic Act. 11453 sponsored by Cong. Joet Garcia, has given AFAB the authority to register expansion areas anywhere in Bataan, which used to be limited within Mariveles.
Pineda added, with the establishment of 16 FAB expansion areas with a total of 3,084 hectares of land intended for various types of economic activities, currently being developed in eight different municipalities and in Balanga City, more Bataenos will be able to stay with their families as jobs closer to their hometowns become available.
It will be remembered that PETRON Corporation in Limay was also registered as a FAB expansion area, which helped save more than 2,000 jobs in the area.
