The Abucay Municipal Government had announced through Facebook that cocopeat and cocofiber are available at the Abucay Ecological Center.
Billy Magtanong who works for the center, said in his FB post that cocopeat and cocofiber are made available through the project of Mayor Liberato Santiago, Jr. to boost the town’s “Gulayan sa Paaralan” program.
Cocopeat is made from the pith inside a coconut husk. It is good for use to start a seed and is used as soil amendment, potting mix, and in hydrponic gardening.
Magtanong also said cocopeat and cocofiber are useful in composting in local residents’ backyard.
The production of cocopeat and cocofiber is part of Abucay Waste Diversion program on waste management.
