The Sangguniang Bayan of Limay is going to pass an ordinance aimed at protecting the rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, Queers and Intersex (LGBTQI).

SB Member Cecil Gerard C. Roxas, chair of Committee on Tourism and Enrichment of Culture, explained that there is now a need to protect the rights of LGBTQI sector against all forms of discrimination solely on the basis of sexual orientation gender identity expression (SOGIE).

Under the said municipal ordinance, violators will be meted appropriate penalty.
Limay has more or less 1,000 LGBTQI individuals that need protection from the local government, Roxas said.
