Over 7,000 jobs, local and overseas, were offered yesterday during the 2023 Labor Day Job Fair organized by the Bataan Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held at the Bataan People’s Center, Balanga City.
In his message, Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III emphasized that the said activity is also part of the “Matatag na Pamilyang Bataeño Ordinance” as it aims to ensure that every resident has livelihood or sufficient income to support their families and live comfortably.
Out of the 2,508 online registered applicants, 1,938 attended the job fair, and 570 applied onsite.
A total of 32 local and eight overseas employers offered 7,522 and 1,200 job vacancies, respectively.
Additionally, 14 job seekers were hired on the spot. During the job fair, checks were distributed to the beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) amounting to PHP2,929,075 for a total of 799 students.
Moreover, 20 disadvantaged individuals were provided with livelihood starter kits amounting to a total of PHP520,000 under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Also present during the event were Vice Governor Ma. Cristina Garcia, Board Member Benjamin Seranno Jr., DOLE Assistant Regional Director Alejandro Inza-Cruz, DOLE Bataan Provincial Director Leilani Reynoso, and PESO Manager Maria Eva Basalo.
