Aboitiz Foundation, Aboitiz Power expand AuroraPH to Bataan’s Biaan Aeta Integrated School

Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and Aboitiz Power Corporation, through their subsidiaries GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), officially turned over the AuroraPH package to Biaan Aeta Integrated School (BAIS) in Mariveles. This milestone marks the first time the AuroraPH program has been implemented in an on-grid school, further enhancing the institution’s infrastructure with sustainable solar power and improved internet connectivity.

AuroraPH is the flagship education initiative of the Aboitiz Foundation, developed in partnership with non-profit GivePower, tech providers Starlink and Huawei, and government agencies such as the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Designed to bridge the digital and educational gap in remote communities, the program equips last-mile schools with solar-powered electricity and reliable Wi-Fi access. BAIS becomes the first on-grid school to benefit, lowering energy costs and enhancing digital access for students and teachers.

BAIS Principal Mariquita Banal expressed deep gratitude for the support, saying, “This support means everything to me, our teachers, and our learners. BAIS used to be an overlooked school, but now we can perform side-by-side with the rest.” Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion also highlighted the significance of public-private partnerships, noting how BAIS has transformed into a model school through collaborative efforts with AboitizPower.

DepEd Bataan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Carolina Violeta emphasized the long-term impact of the initiative. “Aboitiz Foundation and AboitizPower don’t just offer short-term help; they plant the seeds for long-term progress,” she said, adding that the infrastructure upgrades are not just physical improvements but also sources of inspiration for educational reform.

Launched in 2024, AuroraPH has powered 11 schools across Benguet, Bataan, Cebu, and Davao City, reaching nearly 2,000 students. The Aboitiz Foundation aims to expand the program to 100 schools by the end of 2025 and 300 by 2027. To support sustainability, AdventEnergy conducted training for school personnel on system maintenance, while City Savings Bank introduced a financial literacy program for teachers under “Project Pera-parasyon.”
