Military veterans with disabilities will receive an additional disability pension under a new law signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. Republic Act No. 11958, or the “Act Rationalizing the Disability Pension of Veterans”, authored by Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman, who announced the good news on her Facebook page on Wednesday.
“Are you a military veteran with a disability? THIS IS FOR YOU!” Roman wrote in Filipino. Rep. Roman said that under the new law, veterans will receive an additional disability pension depending on their disability rating. The additional pension ranges from P4,500 for those with a 10 to 30% disability rating to P10,000 for those with a 91 to 100% disability rating. The latter also includes an additional P1,000 for the surviving spouse and each unmarried minor child of the veteran. Congresswoman Roman said that she had been fighting for this cause since she was the chairperson of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. “This is my humble gratitude and recognition for your sacrifice and your service!” Roman said, adding hashtags such as #NationalCongresswoman, #GeraldineRomantik, #RA11958, and #MilitaryVeterans.
