Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Administrator Emmanuel Pineda delivered his 5th State of the Freeport Address on Wednesday highlighting remarkable improvements despite the pandemic.

He chronicled the Freeport’s major accomplishments through AFAB’s action plan SOFT HEART (Socially relevant, Operationally viable, Financialy feasible, Technologically Advanced-Housing Expansion areas, Accessibility, Renewable Energy, and Transportation).

He said AFAB achievements included 96 operating FAB Registered Enterprises; 17 FAB Expansion Areas; P935 million board-approved investments; 37,261 employment generated; $571.2 million worth of export value; P571 million recorded port revenue; P392 million budget allotted for infrastructure projects.

Over one hundred guests witnessed the occasion that included local leaders headed by Gov. Joet Garcia and Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion; various national government agencies, investment promotion agencies, FAB registered locators, and civic organizations.

Pineda said, by undertaking resolute actions in the face of pandemic, AFAB was able to sustain tempo to keep businesses in the Freeport moving.

He also took note that with the establishment of FAB Expansion Areas in different towns in Bataan, the employment rate in the FAB is seen to rise in the next years.

The 6-year term of Pineda ends this month.
