The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is eyeing a remarkable downtrend in the number of COVID -19 cases as it put in place all health and safety protocols like contact-tracing and immediate isolation of workers found positive for corona virus.

Last January 16, the AFAB recorded 22 COVID cases; 12 cases last January 17, and January 18, four cases all which were community transmissions.

Karen Balmaceda-Padaoan, senior information officer of AFAB, said health units in the Freeport continuously monitor workers to ensure that all necessary protocols are in place. “We also encourage our clients to use on-line channels for transactions like payment of bills, utilities and other transactions can also be done through GCash and Landbank Link.BizPortal,” said Padaoan.

Of the 27,000 workers reporting to the various factories at the Freeport, 0.8 percent are currently isolated. “Contact tracings are done within 24 hours,” she said.
