Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon launched the Kaanib-Hapag Garden program to encourage vegetable farming in the city.

The top two leaders are promoting the value of planting vegetables for sustainable food production as well as keeping the surroundings clean.

Recently, the city government turned over a Kaanib-Hapag Garden area in 1Bataan Village, Barangay Tenejero to its residents. Village residents formed the Kaanib group to tend the Kaanib-Hapag Garden with the harvests to be divided among themselves.

Kaanib members in 1Bataan Village also thanked Board Member Noel Valdecanas for donating a nipa hut for the project.

Sangguniang Panlungsod members support the Kaanib-Hapag Garden program.
