Bataan celebrates Women’s Month with a bang!

Juanas in Bataan yesterday, March 29 had a grand day in celebration of the 2023 National Women’s Day anchored on the new recurring theme from this year to 2028, “WE for gender equality and inclusive society.”

Spearheaded by the Provincial Women’s Commission (PWC) Bataan Chapter under the dynamic leadership of its Chairperson, Mrs. Vicky Garcia, the celebration started with an early morning mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City, followed by a lavender themed motorcade that winded up to Lou-Is Resort and Restaurant in the said city for the program proper.

Attended by women leaders from different sectors and members of women’s groups from all over the province such as the KABAKA, KALIPI, KABALIKAT; Bataan’s 3rd Congressional District Representative Gila Garcia and Vice Governor Cris Garcia also graced the event.

As always, the splendid performance of the Koro Bangkal Magbikin under the baton of Maestro Nesty Enriquez wowed the attendees especially when they did the native “Tinikling” dance and invited Cong. Gila and Vice Cris to join them in the dance floor.

Senator Risa Hontiveros sent a video message recognizing the pivotal role of women in our society, underscoring their triumphs in different fields of endeavor.

Meanwhile, Cong Gila, in her inspirational message clearly discussed and illustrated through a powerpoint presentation the importance as well as the difference between equality and equity vis-a-vis effective public service and inclusive development.

She also emphasized the crucial role of agriculture not only in our food security but also in national development.

To the delight of the Juanas, she distributed bags of tomatoes harvested by farmers in Dinalupihan who utilize the “drip fertigation” technology.

Towards the end of the program, Mrs. Vicky Garcia led the oath taking of the members of the PWC, renewing their commitment in advancing the rights and welfare of women.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Gloria Abejar profusely thanked everyone for their cooperation and participation that contributed to the success of the celebration.
