Bataan Marks 267th Foundation Day with grand fiesta celebration

Bataan, the historic peninsula located in Central Luzon, Philippines, celebrated its 267th foundation day in a vibrant fiesta atmosphere, as thousands of government and private workers participated in a colorful parade on Thursday. The day was declared a special non-working holiday for the occasion, setting the stage for a day filled with festivities.

The festivities commenced with a Thanksgiving Holy Mass at the Cathedral Shrine Parish of Saint Joseph, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection. The lively parade, featuring several brass bands, kicked off at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga, weaving through the city streets and concluding at the Bataan People’s Center in the capitol compound.

In a packed Bataan People’s Center, Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III delivered the State of the Province Address, highlighting the achievements of the Provincial Government in 2023. The Governor proudly acknowledged the numerous awards for good governance received during the past year.

Describing the celebration as a momentous occasion, Governor Garcia expressed his gratitude to 1st District Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, 2nd District Congressman Albert Garcia, 3rd District Congresswoman Maria Angela Garcia, and Pusong Pinoy Partylist Representative Jett Nisay for their valuable contributions to the province.

Following the State of the Province Address, participants from 11 towns and one city engaged in traditional Filipino games, such as taguang tsinelas and jumping rope, at the capitol compound. These activities added a touch of nostalgia and cultural richness to the festivities, celebrating the province’s heritage.

The day concluded with the enchanting ‚ÄúGabi ng Musika‚ÄĚ along the Capitol Road in the evening, providing a fitting end to the jubilant celebration. Residents and visitors alike enjoyed the musical performances that capped off a day filled with unity, cultural pride, and gratitude for Bataan‚Äôs 267 years of rich history.
