“This [Bataan] is the epicenter of innovation and technology in the Philippines,” said Mr. Randy Knutson, Founder and CEO of Dynaquest, during the Blockchain Fundamentals & Innovation Workshop organized by the Bataan Public-Private Partnership and Investment Center (PPPIC) at The Bunker on May 30-31, 2023.
Facilitators of the workshop were Mr. Randy Knutson, the Founder and CEO of Dynaquest; Ms. Gail Macapagal, the Country Director; and Mr. Mark Talahiban, the Senior Technology Consultant. They discussed an introduction to blockchain, business use cases, and blockchain governance and societal use cases.
The first day was graced by the President of Bataan ICT Development Council, Mr. Bryan Joseph Banzon, and the Director of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, Mr. Antonio Padre.
On the second day, participants from various government agencies raised current issues in systems, particularly the Community-Based Monitoring System, Tax Collection, Digital Identity, and Contribution Economics. They explored how these systems can align with the technological advancements available today.
CEO Knutson expressed Dynaquest’s intention to create a curriculum or course at Bataan Peninsula State University for the development of blockchain. In partnership with Dynaquest Technology Services Inc., the Provincial Government of Bataan aims to accelerate the institutionalization of blockchain in governance, ultimately making Bataan the Blockchain City of the Philippines.
