Vice Governor Ma. Cristina Garcia represented the Provincial Government of Bataan in the recently concluded London Blockchain Conference, where she highlighted the province’s initiatives in blockchain technology to enhance the modernization and efficiency of public service delivery.
Among the initiatives she shared were the electronic medical record system being implemented for an efficient healthcare system, developments at the Freeport Area of Bataan in terms of opening its doors to blockchain industry locators, partnership with NChain for establishing a platform that will streamline current government systems, and other developments.
The event provided numerous opportunities for the province including the expressed interest of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in assisting Bataan in developing an application to advance electronic governance or E-Governance.
An agreement between the Provincial Government of Bataan and DICT for a Digital Document Signing Project is also anticipated, aiming to further improve the efficiency of public services in the province.
Moreover, students from Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) will undergo training for an educational program that will be shared with state universities across the country. This development is also expected to contribute significantly to the educational advancement in Bataan.
The conference, held from May 31 to June 2, served as a vital platform for governments, organizations, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, explore innovative ideas, and forge collaborations that drive the adoption of blockchain technology. It gathered global FinTech companies, application developers, infrastructure partners, content creators, and technology enthusiasts which served as a catalyst for groundbreaking collaborations and industry advancements.
Among the delegates from the Philippines were DICT Assistant Secretary Edwin Lingot, Mr. Christian Pulmano from ADMU, Balanga City Education and Excellence Development Officer Tarra Ann Pagdanganan, Mr. Joseph Pagdanganan and Ms. Kara Mei Herrera from the Provincial Governor’s Office.
