The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial board) had approved funding for the purchase vaccines and other anti-COVID-19 medicines.
Bataan Vice Gov. Cris Garcia in a press briefing last weekend said that the provincial board members gave their imprimatur on humongous funding for the purchase of anti-COVID-19 vaccines given the pandemic situation and other emergency cases arising from the surge of dreaded virus and its variants.
“Sabi nga nila napakalaki ng budget natin pero mas mabuti na yung nakahanda tayo,” explains Garcia.
She pointed out that there is a need for more disciplined citizenry to fight off COVID-19 pandemic criticizing some sectors who continued to shun vaccination owing tò various reasons.
“I think we really have to live with this virus and accept the new normal and continue to practice minimum health protocol,” Garcia said.
As per record released on January 25, 2022 by the Provincial Health Office, some 538,778 or 68.27 percent of Bataan population have been fully vaccinated; 588,689 received first dose; 93,793 got booster shots. Total number of vaccine administered: 1,221,259.
