A partnership agreement was signed this morning, May 9, between the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during the launching of Project Transform in pilot municipalities, namely Orion, Limay, and Mariveles, at the Bataan People’s Center.
“The Province of Bataan has always been a model for other LGUs to follow because of the combined efforts of local government units from the provincial to the municipal. But now, it is also a model for national and local coherence in terms of policies and alignments from the national level all the way to the barangay level,” said DENR Secretary Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga during the event.
Project TRANSFORM (Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities) is a multi-stakeholder approach to delivering environmental, social, and economic development for Bataan.
Representing the Governor is the 2nd district representative Abet Garcia, who said, “Just like the bridge that will soon connect Cavite and Bataan and open up many opportunities, thank you for bridging us to potential partners and opening doors for further collaboration.”
Under Project Transform, the following programs will be implemented: • Barangay Resilience Award • Economic Resilience • Adopt a Station (Air Quality Monitoring / Early Warning System) • Baka1Bataan (“bakawan” + “1Bataan”): Mangrove Rehabilitation Program • Community-Level GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Accounting • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR); and, • 1Bataan Base Map (1BBM) “Leadership in governance is an integral part of resilience, and you have that leadership in this Province. It is critical that this leadership understands how vulnerabilities can become opportunities,” added Sec. Yulo.
