The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) recently distributed about P600,000 worth of livelihood inputs to fisherfolks in Hermosa, Bataan.
BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz said this is in support to the municipal government’s COVID-19 pandemic recovery program.
The agency awarded motorized boats and various types of fish nets for river and fish pond usage to the town’s fisherfolks that will help them maintain the production of water resources.
“Additional production of aquatic resources from the provided inputs will also generate jobs for the women of Hermosa through the added value of producing fishes such as deboning, bottling, and smoking thus empowering their economic ventures,” he added.
BFAR National Director Eduardo Gongona led the awarding of inputs to the recipients.
In his message, Gongona lauded the teeming fisheries production of Central Luzon, particularly in aquaculture.
