Mayor Bondjong Pascual said there is already a green light for the construction of a bigger fish port to replace the old one in Barangay Pantalan Luma to better serve fish traders and fishermen.
He said funding of the project will come as grant from the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDR) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
He said the new fish port will have 50 stalls compared to the existing 24 stalls.
The mayor said what is good is that the new fish port will not only be primarily for sugpo and alimango but for silinyasi as well.
“Yung silinyasi traders at fishers ay karamihan pangkaraniwan mamamayan, makecater sila ng bagong fish port”, the mayor said.
“Ako mismo nagulat ang laki pala ng silinyasi trade sa aming bayan”, he said.
“Sa bagong fish port yung sustainable agriculture ma-aachieve at magkakaroon ng economic growth sa bayan ng Orani”, he said.
Provincial Planning Development Officer Butch Baluyot said DA loaned from World Bank to be able to fund the multi-million project by way of grant to benefiting local government unit.
He added both the national and provincial governments will each provide ten percent of the project cost as counterpart.
He said the Orani fish port project is the first in Central Luzon to be funded through PRDP grant.
