The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is taking steps to ensure tax compliance in Central Luzon. According to BIR Revenue Region No. 4 Assistant Regional Director Marlon Mendoza, these efforts include promoting timely tax payments and maintaining open communication with taxpayers. Mendoza highlighted the importance of taxpayer dialogue during a recent episode of the Philippine Information Agency’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.
To make tax payments easier, the BIR is implementing digital systems like the Revie Chatbot, the Electronic Filing and Payment System, and the Online Registration and Update System. Mendoza emphasized that these tools are designed to streamline the process and improve efficiency for taxpayers.
Mendoza also addressed concerns about tax evasion in the region, stating that the BIR prefers dialogue and cooperation over filing cases. However, when necessary, the agency will take legal action against tax evaders through its Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program.
For taxpayers struggling with payments, Mendoza mentioned options such as judicial compromise and installment plans through their local Revenue District Office. The BIR assured that all taxpayers, regardless of business size, are treated equally under the law.
