Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region No. 4 OIC Regional Director Atty. Emmanuel S. Ferrer Jr. warned that unscrupulous taxpayers engaging in tax evasion and fraud will be investigated and sanctioned by the agency.
“Frauds are still rampant nowadays. We will go against these unscrupulous individuals. BIR is now using technology to detect them”, he said during the recent conduct of tax symposium at BIR Bataan office of which he was the main resource person. He said BIR is monitoring common violations that included non-issuance of receipts or invoices; refusal to register as VAT taxpayers; non-filing or late filing of tax returns; under-declaration of sales or income; and using fake receipts, among others. “Pay the correct taxes. Help the BIR reach its target”, he appealed.
Ferrer disclosed that tax compliance in Bataan has declined for the past two months and the conduct of tax symposium is a measure to improve it. BIR Revenue Region No. 4 OIC Assistant Regional Director Atty. Marlon M. Mendoza and BIR Bataan Revenue District officer Atty. Mercedes Estalilla joined the panel of speakers. Members of CPAs, bookkeepers, tax practitioners, members of the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., and other stakeholders attended the symposium. The post BIR warns unscrupulous taxpayers appeared first on 1Bataan.
