The vibrant town of Hermosa recently marked another significant milestone in the Provincial Government of Bataan’s monthly Bisita Bayan initiative, a community outreach program that brings together local government leaders led by Governor Joet Garcia, residents, and volunteers to address critical social issues.
Governor Garcia said that this year’s event focused on the youth, emphasizing programs that aim to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to shape a brighter future.
The ceremonial flag-raising at the local government center kicked off the event, attended by local officials including Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Hermosa First Lady Atty. Anne Inton, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Hermosa led by Vice Mayor Patrick Rellosa, as well as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Clyde Teruel. Also present were representatives from the Hermosa Poverty Board (HPB), Public Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Barangay Youth Development Office (BYDO), along with local officials and community leaders.
This year, the focus is squarely on youth empowerment. Key programs discussed included the establishment of a Teen Information Center aimed at providing resources and support to the younger generation, as well as initiatives like the Tobacco-Free Generation campaign, which seeks to protect the youth from the harmful effects of smoking. The event also highlighted mental health awareness efforts, promoting the importance of emotional well-being in the often stressful lives of young people.
In addition, discussions centered on encouraging a sports-driven and active lifestyle, an effort to combat sedentary habits among the youth while promoting physical and mental health.
Also discussed was the Iskolar ng Bataan program, which aims to open doors for deserving students to continue their education and improve their future prospects. The local government aims to provide youth with the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and personally.
The Bisita Bayan event in Hermosa serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role that local government plays in shaping the future of its citizens. By investing in the youth through educational, health, and recreational programs, Hermosa’s leaders are working to ensure that young people in the area have the opportunities to achieve their dreams and contribute positively to their community.
As the Bisita Bayan program continues to evolve, it remains a symbol of hope and solidarity, with local government and the people of Hermosa united in their vision of a prosperous and sustainable future for Bataan’s youth.
