Farmers and fishermen in Orani will now have a sigh of relief following the release of P180,364,159.48 by the Department of Agriculture through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).
In its statement released during the recent inauguration by President Marcos of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Limay, the DA said the beneficiaries of the project are the more or less 10,000 residents mostly farmers and fisher folks of Barangays (villages) of Palihan, Pantalan Bago, and Pantalan Luma.
The PRDP is a six-year project funded by the World Bank designed to establish the government platform for a modern, climate smart, market-oriented agri-fishery sector.
PRDP partners with the LGUs and the private sector in providing key infrastructure, facilities, technology, and information that will raise incomes, productivity, and competitiveness in the countryside.
Orani Vice Mayor Emmanuel Roman has said it is about time Orani made effort to revive the fish trading industry in his town which used to be called the “seafood capital” of Bataan where “sugpo” (shrimp) and “alimango” (crabs) abound.
The project will cater to various beneficiaries in the Orani fishing port, such as fisher folks, fishing brokers or traders, agricultural support business operators and the fish consumers in general.
