DENR launches Project TRANSFORM in Bataan

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources and private partners launched on Tuesday the newest integrated resilience and sustainability project for three municipalities of Bataan.

The formal launch of the third edition of TRANSFORM (Transdiciplinary Approach towards Sustainability and Resilience through Multistakeholder Engagement) is a joint undertaking of the DENR, National Resilience Council, Peace and Equity Foundation, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Energy Development Corp., Zuellig Family Foundation, and the Bataan Provincial Government.

DENR Secretary Antonia Loyzaga reiterated her thrust and directive to engage the whole of society in the DENR mission– to put together all the best practices from both government and the private sectors to deliver an inclusive, science-based, and data-driven template that all stakeholders, partners, and LGUs can use in fighting the accelerating climate emergency.

The first Project Transform was launched in Ormoc City during the DENR’s Multistakeholder Forum in the Visayas, and later on February 4 in three municipalities of Surigao del Norte.

The DENR and its partners in the private sector signed a memorandum of agreement on the establishment of a real-time air quality monitoring station in Bataan.

Among the firms that took part in the event are San Miguel Foods, Puregold Price Club Inc., Vista Mall-Bataan, Mitsubishi Corporation, Bounty Fresh Food Inc., SM Supermalls, and Philcement Corp.

Bataan Second District Rep. Albert S. Garcia urged the local officials and stakeholders to continue treading the path toward creating a sustainable community.

He said, “Patuloy natin ingatan at pangalagaan ang ating kapaligiran sa pamamagitan ng mga programang ganito. Let us stay focused in our community which is considered a legacy to our next generation.”
