Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Usec. Engineer Wilfredo “Willy” Mallari said that the agency, through the leadership of Secretary Jerry Acuzar is committed to smoothly implement President Bongbong Marcos’ Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing Program.
Taking the words of the DHSUD Secretary, he said the marching order of President Marcos is to provide affordable and decent houses to millions of Filipinos especially informal settler families and those belonging to low-income bracket.
President Marcos has tasked DHSUD to build one million housing units a year or equivalent to six million housing units in six years or during his term to close the gap of the housing backlog in the country.
Mallari said DHSUD has been continuously coordinating with local government units all over the country to identify beneficiaries and housing project sites.
He said they are also talking to interested private contractors.
DHSUD so far has conducted groundbreaking ceremonies of housing projects in key cities and municipalities all over the country.
Acuzar and Mallari’s vast experience in construction is seen an advantage and can be put to use at the department.
The DHSUD secretary is a construction magnate who had built government social housing projects.
On the other hand, Mallari rose from ranks at the DPWH starting as engineering aide and retiring as Mimaropa regional director, and then appointed DPWH assistant secretary.
